Dénia

Dénia with an area of 66 km² and 46,000 inhabitants is located at the northern foot of the Montgó mountain and has a more urban character. Thanks to its shopping mile and miles of sandy beaches, this place is also a very popular tourist destination.

Nevertheless, you will not find "dormitory-style homes" like Calpe, Benidorm or many other bigger cities of the Costa Blanca in Denia.

Dénia is connected to the two airports Alicante (approx. 100 km away) and Valencia (approx. 90 km away) by the AP 7 motorway. From Denia you can reach the Balearic Islands Ibiza and Mallorca by ferry. The railway line L9 connects Dénia with Alicante.
What makes Dénia special
the castle
The castle
Worth seeing is for example the castle, which was built in the 12th century by the Moors.

From up there you have a wonderful view over the whole of Dénia, the old town, the Móntgo and the port of the city. 120 years old and after Alicante one of the most important of the Costa Blanca.

Dare also take a look at the museum of the castle. It is open daily!
old town
The old town
Numerous restaurants and bars offer typical local dishes. The small, cosy old town centre is well preserved. Here you will also find small charming alleys such as the very popular tapas mile in the traffic-calmed Calle Loreto.

One bar and restaurant after the other. Here one can hardly decide. But they are all good!
shopping mile
Shopping and strolling

If you like to stroll, the Marques de Campo is the place to be. Many people love it. Long, purple flowering avenues run through this shopping street, street artists share their skills with you, restaurants and small boutiques line up close together down to the harbour.

The Marques de Campo is not only the city centre but also the centre of big events.

The port of Dénia
port
transhipment point - travelling by ferry - boat harbour and restaurants

The port of Dénia is considered the second most important port on the Costa Blanca after Alicante. From here ferries to the Balearic Islands depart regularly. It is only 55 nautical miles to Ibiza, 60 nautical miles to Formentera and 128 nautical miles to Mallorca. The city's fishing port is also located here.
In the "fish exchange" about 700 boxes of fish are auctioned daily, every afternoon the freshly caught sea fish can be bought.
In the harbour area you will find the city harbour and 2 other marinas, which are very popular among sailors and yacht owners.

yachts

"Club Nautico"
The older and traditional harbour is mainly used by sailors and is beautifully located. It is worthwhile here in the morning with a Cortado (espresso with milk) or a cup of coffee to let the view wander.

"Der Neue Hafen"
Completed in 2004, the new port offers over 1,000 berths for sailors, sports boats and large private yachts. Many nice bars, restaurants and chill-out lounges invite you to relax. Stay here in the afternoon or evening and watch the hustle and bustle in the harbour and the incoming and outgoing ships and ferries.
